Don't Fall Back
This weekend Daylight Savings Time began. Every year in the fall we turn our clocks back one hour and “save” time. In order to remember to adjust our clocks, there is a saying - “Spring Forward, Fall Back”. We are supposed to “Fall Back”, but I want to caution against “Falling Back” in your spiritual walk. Don’t Fall Back! Many of us have come a long way. Many of us are in a better place. Many of us are better now than we were in the past! Don’t Fall Back!
There are memories, people or songs that constantly remind us where, and who, we once were. Don’t Fall Back! Don’t succumb to these reminders of the past. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:13, “...forgetting those things which are behind, I reach forward to those things which are ahead...”
So, we can’t fall back! We must forget about the past and reach forward. Even though the world is “Falling Back”, we must “Fall Forward”. Fall Forward in Prayer. Fall Forward in Fasting. Fall Forward in Worshipping. Fall Forward in Praise. In all we do, we are more than conquerors, so Don’t Fall Back - Fall Forward, towards Christ! William McDowell sings a song that comforted and challenged me at a difficult point in my life and the title of that song is, “I Won’t Go Back”!
Whatever you do and however you do it, “Don’t Fall Back”. Buckle yourself in at a good church! Bind your heart to the altar. Lock yourself into a loving and Christ-filled fellowship. Through the light in your life and the love in your heart, Don’t Fall Back! Fall Forward. Fall for God and when you do, you will always Fall Forward!
