I'll Pay For The Wall
The current President of the United States has been calling for building a wall to keep immigrants out of the United States. It was part of his campaign rhetoric and it resonated with a number of his supporters, who have had enough "people imports". So, I thought about it and prayed about it and I have decided I will help pay for The Wall. Tell me where to send my check. Tell me to whom I should make my check. Oh, just one small request before I make out my check. Before I make the check out for The Wall, I'll need someone to confirm that we have removed the little brass plaque that is mounted inside the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. You know the one. The one that reads, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” Once I get confirmation that the content of this plaque has been renounced and the plaque itself removed, then it will make sense to build The Wall, because then I will know we are not being hypocrites, with a selective Country Club (literally) mentality. I apologize, I have been working, raising a family, and volunteering in the community. I missed the day when the United States of America voted to become the Selective States of America. I do not pray for either Republican or Democrat ideals to prevail. I pray that American ideals will prevail. I pray we will become the larger and more noble reality that those who fought and died for this country intended and envisioned. I pray we will be a country that is strong, yet compassionate. I pray will will be a country that is respected and respectable. I pray we will not become great again, rather we will become Greater Than Ever Before. I pray we will become that light that sits atop the Statue of Liberty, which the world sees and that lights the way in a world of darkness. I pray that in the pursuit of our greatness, we will not forget the responsibility greatness brings. It is a responsibility of humanity. It is a responsibility to our future. It is a collective destiny, which does not end at our borders, rather extends throughout the world and understands and acknowledges that we are all human, no matter your political affiliation, your circumstances, your skin color, or your country code. Greatness is respecting adults and protecting children. Greatness is appreciating differences. Greatness is not the property of any one political party or person. Greatness is given by God as a gift to be sowed back into others. Greatness is humility. Greatness is kindness. Greatness is respect. I am not first a Democrat. I am not first a Republican. I am first an American! So, tell me to whom to make out my check and then let them know the significant responsibility of attempting to cash such a check. Blessings.
