Lord Have Mercy

Have you ever heard someone exclaim, “Lord Have Mercy!”

Have you uttered this familiar cry?

So here is my question to you - ‘Why should God give someone something they don’t give others’?

Mercy is often requested, but not as often extended. What about you, do you extend mercy?

Even if you don't extend mercy, my guess is that you regularly benefit from the receipt of grace. As you have received grace, do you extend grace? We often hear grace and mercy put together as a supernatural dynamic duo.

Do you know the difference between mercy and grace?

Mercy is showing kindness and compassion to one who has offended you. Grace is the unmerited and undeserved favor shown by God. Mercy gave the prodigal son a second chance. Grace gave him a party!

Do you give others who have hurt you a second chance? Do you show kindness and compassion to those who offend you?

Being chosen of God is a tremendous honor, but is also a tremendous responsibility. If we are to follow Christ, we must extend mercy to those who offend. When we do, God will extend mercy to us, who so often offend and hurt Him and who so desperately need it!
