Why I Don't Want to go to Church

I don't want to go to church because there is too much judging going on. I don't want to go to church because there is too much hypocrisy. I don't want to go to church because it has become a social center and not a spiritual rehab facility. I don't want to go to church because it is all about man and not at all about God.

I don't want to go to church because many have forgotten that God only gave us two commandments! That's it. Love God. Love People. Period. The outgrowth of your love for God and your love for people will result in you behaving and acting in a certain way. No one needs to judge you. No one needs to beat you over the head. No one needs to cram anything down your throat. A preachers job is to present the information in a loving, non threatening and sensible manner. It is not their job to condemn you while they present it. It is not their job to render punishment while they present it. Just present it!

In John 12:32 it says, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." What does that mean? It means our job is to worship God, to love others and to present them the Word of God. God will do the rest. People know their own pain. They know their own shortcomings. They know their weaknesses. And guess what, most of them want help. Most people want to be better, to live better, to feel better. Most people know the source of that is something on the inside, which, if corrected, will reflect on the outside. We don't need to be Prosecutor, Judge, Jury and Hangman!

No, I don't want to go to church! I want to go to God. I don't want to go to church. I want to go to Heaven! When it is all over, the key element is going to be whether you lived by the two commandments. Did you love God and show it in the way you lived your life? Did you obey his commandments? Did you abide by His laws? Did you worship him? Did you have faith? Did you set aside time for just you and Him? Did you make Him your only god? Then, did you love others? Did you honor your parents? Did you honor those in authority over you? Did you give honor to whom honor is due? Did you treat your neighbor better than you did yourself? Did you not kill people with your mouth?

It took me a long time to want to reengage in organized religion, because it did not seem to me that people really got it. I felt there was just too much misdirection, politics and hidden agendas. But in the end, I had to come back because I am not responsible for what others do, but I am accountable for what I do. If I don't do all I can to accomplish the Great Commission of going out and making disciples, then when I stand before God, I dare not blame "organized religion" and the hypocrites and judges. It is on me!

When you boil it all down, it is actually very easy and very satisfying. Just lift God up. Do good works. Worship God. Love People. God, and that person, will take care of the rest.
